Yvonne Margaret Deligiorgis, 73, of Milwaukie, Ore., died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at home of cancer. Steel Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Judith N. (Burlingame) Parker
1942-2016

Judith Norine “Judy” (Burlingame) Parker, 74 years of age, died on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at her home in Carlisle, Wash. She was born on July 1, 1942, in Aberdeen to Theodore Lewis and Ruth C. (Bell) Burlingame. She had attended Moclips schools and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1960.

On June 10, 1960, Emmett Clare Parker and Judy Burlingame were married in Aberdeen. The couple made their home in Carlisle. She had worked in local canneries and various shake and shingle mills, until she and Clare opened CJ Cedar Products in 1984 and operated it until 2003.

Judy’s family was of utmost importance to her. She enjoyed spending time with them clam digging, cooking and baking, and mending anything they dropped by. In addition she was involved in her community, having volunteered for Copalis Crossing Food Bank; supported the Pacific Beach and Copalis Crossing Fire Departments and baked goods for the county workers.

She had been a member of the Pacific Beach Quilters, the American Heroes Quilters, the Thursday Quilting Group in Aberdeen, and quilted for Native Cancer Survivors with the Quinault Nation Quilters.

Relatives include her daughter, Janet Parker of Copalis Crossing, Wash.; a son, Donald Parker (Dana) of Washougal, Wash.; grandchildren, Corrisa Navarro (Joe) of Tigard, Ore., Bryan Rose (Kari) of Tigard, Ore., Chris Lingo (Ashley) of Stanwood, Bradley Parker of Everett, and Jordan Parker of Washougal; a great-granddaughter, Emi Lingo; four brothers, Duane Burlingame of Sumner, Arnold Burlingame of Cedarville, Wash., Jim Burlingame of Hoquiam and Tim Burlingame of Hoquiam; a sister, Charleen Burlingame of Humptulips, Wash. ad other relatives.

In addition to her husband, Emmett Clare Parker, who died on September 10, 2002, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Howard Burlingame and two sisters, Gwen Hair and Denise Pierce.

A celebration of life/potluck lunch is being planned for Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m., at the Pacific Beach Fire Hall.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Pacific Beach Quilters or the Copalis Crossing or Pacific Beach Fire Departments.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.

Warren Lee Quirin, age 74, a lifetime resident of the Harbor, died on May 11, 2016, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Aberdeen.

Mr. Quirin was born on March 18, 1942, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Ralph and Gladys (Ross) Quirin.

He was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1960.

Ronald Wayne “Sparky” Markgraff

Ronald Wayne “Sparky” Markgraf
1940-2016

Ronald W. Markgraff, a longtime resident of Aberdeen, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam. He was 75. Ron was born on Aug. 19, 1940 in Colville, WA. to Emery and Peggy (Wayne) Emery. He moved to Aberdeen with his family when he was in the 4th grade. Ron attended Weatherwax High School, graduating with the class of 1960.

During high school, Sparky served in the Naval Reserves, and enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation. He served on the USS Ticonderoga aircraft carrier before being discharged in 1964.

He started working at Grays Harbor Paper in 1964. On May 1, 1972 he married Patricia Pardee in Reno, NV. Ron worked for Grays Harbor Paper for many years until forced into medical retirement in 2007.

He was a member of the Highlands Golf Club for many years until back surgeries forced him to quit playing. He spent lots of time at Wynoochee Wildwood, enjoying building his campfires. He also enjoyed reading and talking with his wife as well as many friends, especially his buddy Don…oh, the stories they could tell!

In addition to his wife Patricia, Sparky is survived by his son John E. Markgraf of Aberdeen and daughter Julie A. Markgraf of Spanaway, WA. He is also survived by a brother Donald (Emily) Markgraf and their five children of Springville, UT, his sister Delores Bravos of Arizona, his sister-in-law Jan Melton, niece Stephanie Melton-Talevich and nephew Lee Melton.

The family asks that memorial donations be made in Sparky’s honor to the Aberdeen Fire Department Emergency Services Fund, 700 West Market, Aberdeen 98520, or the Aberdeen Food Bank, 306-1/2 North I, Aberdeen 98520.

Melvin Ramsdell

Melvin Ramsdell
1942-2016

Melvin A. Ramsdell, 74, lifelong resident of the Harbor, died at his home in the North River area Saturday, March 5, 2016. He was born Jan. 25, 1942 in Aberdeen, the son of Ronald Aaron and Ida Miriam (Bond) Ramsdell. He was raised in Cosmopolis and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1960. He would attend Grays Harbor College and would receive his certificate in welding.

When he left high school he worked in the seafood cannery in South Aberdeen. He served an enlistment in the US Army and upon his return to Aberdeen worked as a choker for Weyerhaeuser. He later worked on the Robert Gray Dredge for the Port of Grays Harbor. Meanwhile he married Sherry Boone in Cosmopolis on Aug. 19, 1966.

Melvin started work as a deck hand on tug boats for Quigg Bros./Allman Hubble Companies that would in a few years lead to becoming a captain on the tugs. For a while he was a boiler-man for Pacific Hardwoods and would open MR Coin Shop in Cosmopolis until he retired in 2009.

He belonged to the Grays Harbor Coin Club, serving as president. He was also a member of the Inland Boatsmen Union.

Melvin enjoyed gardening, collecting coins and most any memorabilia of local interest. He raised cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks and horses on their North River property.

Besides his wife Sherry (of nearly 50 years), Melvin is survived by a son Bryan (Cosmopolis); a daughter Teresa and husband Tim Sorrell, Cle Elum, WA ; three brothers, Everett, Raymond, Wayne and wife Linda, Aberdeen; and Ken (Aberdeen); sisters Arlene Gallington of Aberdeen and Judy Ramsdell of Kirkland.

A gathering of friends and family will be at 3 p.m. Friday, March 11 in the Dorothy Mann Reception Room at Fern Hill Funeral Home n Aberdeen.

Private inurnment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Cosmopolis.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, P. O. Box 19024, Seattle, WA. 98109.

Rick Goldsmith

Rick Goldsmith
1942-2015

Richard Henry Goldsmith Sr. passed away peacefully at his sons home in Satsop on Nov. 27, 2015. Rick was 73.

Rick was married to Janice Lorraine (Hammer) on May 7, 1965. She passed away two months ago. They were married for 50 years. Rick moved to the Harbor when he was a small child and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1960.

Richard enjoyed golfing with his family, fishing, he loved to draw but he especially loved doing crossword puzzles. Ricks personality brought plenty of laughter to his family and friends.

He is survived by five children, three sons, Greg McEvoy, Richard Goldsmith Jr.; Dennis Goldsmith all of Grays Harbor and two daughters, Kimberly Malcolm of Idaho and Michelle Keating of Elma. Rick had one sister, Barbara Wetzel of Puyallup, 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Richards life will be held at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 315 N. 3rd St in Elma at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec 19.

Arrangements are entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary of Montesano.

Frances (Capps) Jonasson

1941-2015

Frances Jonasson, 73 and a lifetime resident of the Harbor, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Saturday, June 20, 2015. She was born in Aberdeen, October 4, 1941, the daughter of Clyde and Josephine (Kroll) Capps. She was a graduate of Weatherwax High School in 1960 and was married to Chester Jonason in Aberdeen November 19, 1961. He died in Cosmopolis, March 11, 2013. Frances had worked in the kitchen at Grays Harbor Community Hospital and had also been an Avon representative for awhile. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Hoquiam, Fern Rebekah Lodge #26 in Montesano, and the Birthday Club. She enjoyed picking blackberries and making jelly; was also a Mariner and Seahawks fan and loved her cat, Sasha. Frances is survived by a daughter and husband, Elaine and Kyle Imler of Hoquiam; a stepdaugher Judy Barzak in California; and two grandchildren. A stepdaughter, Ilene Thomas, died before her. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1st, at Immanuel Baptist Chruch, 1200 Soule Street in Hoquiam. Leo Emery Jr.

Leo Emery Jr.
1941-2015

Leo Emery Jr., age 73, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Aberdeen to Leo and Violetta, Leo resided in Puyallup for 51 years, waking up every day for 38 years to an incredible view of Mr. Rainier. Leo served proudly as an ABH-2 (E-5) in the United States Navy from 1960- 1964. He was an original plank owner of the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). Leo was usually seen wearing his signature Levis, cowboy boots, and a western shirt. He was passionate about classic cars and hotrods. He could usually be found in his custom built shop, home to his 1957 Thunderbird. Leo retired from Bates College after 25 years as a welding instructor. He also taught welding at Rogers High School for 17 years, retiring in 2004, at which time the welding studio was officially named after him in his honor. Leo is survived by his loving wife, Pearl, two dughters, Jessica and Veronica, two step-daughters, Tina and Trisha, and two grandchildren, Madeline and Dylan. Leo took incredible care of his entire family and was a friend to all. A military service will be held on Friday, June 26th, at Tahoma National Cemetery at 10 a.m. The family will also receive friends at The Highlands on Saturday, June 27th from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., located at 502 43rd Avenue SE, Puyallup WA. 98374 (next to Mel Korum’s YMCA). The family would like to thank all those who visited Leo and offered love, support, and prayers in the days leading up to his passing.

Dick Tinder

Richard Lee “Dick” Tinder
1942-2015

Dick Tinder, 73, lifetime Aberdeen resident and former metal shop and metal arts instructor at Hoquiam High School, died Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Wash.

Dick was born on April 10, 1942, in Aberdeen to Harold and Mary (Hermans) Tinder. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1960 and then went to Grays Harbor College for two years.

He went to work at Lamb-Grays Harbor as a machinist in 1963 and worked there until he went to work as the metal shop instructor at Hoquiam High School in 1982, where he taught his love of metal work until his retirement in June 2011.

On Feb. 17, 1963 Dick married JoAnn L. Schroeder in Buhl, Idaho. She resides at the family home. Dick and JoAnn own and operate a cranberry bog in Ocean City.

He was a member of the Washington Education Association, Northwest Blacksmiths Association, and was working with the Historical Seaport to establish a forging shop at their new location. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Dick loved forging and metal art, a perfectionist in all that he did. He also loved old cars.

Dick is survived by his wife of 47 years, JoAnn Tinder, Aberdeen, an uncle Daniel Sopko of Montesano, WA.; cousins Cynthia Yarorough, Star Lake, WA. and Annette Noe, Longview, WA. as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be a time of visitation and viewing on Friday, May 1st, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Fern Hill Funeral Home. A funeral will take place on Monday, May 4th, at 11 a.m. at Fern Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Aberdeen. Burial will follow. A reception will take place at the Aberdeen Eagles at 1 p.m.

The family suggests memorials be made to Grays Harbor Relay For Life, 1313 Broadway, Suite 100, Tacoma, WA. 98402.
