Leo Emery Jr.
1941-2015

Leo Emery Jr., age 73, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Aberdeen to Leo and Violetta, Leo resided in Puyallup for 51 years, waking up every day for 38 years to an incredible view of Mr. Rainier. Leo served proudly as an ABH-2 (E-5) in the United States Navy from 1960- 1964. He was an original plank owner of the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). Leo was usually seen wearing his signature Levis, cowboy boots, and a western shirt. He was passionate about classic cars and hotrods. He could usually be found in his custom built shop, home to his 1957 Thunderbird. Leo retired from Bates College after 25 years as a welding instructor. He also taught welding at Rogers High School for 17 years, retiring in 2004, at which time the welding studio was officially named after him in his honor. Leo is survived by his loving wife, Pearl, two dughters, Jessica and Veronica, two step-daughters, Tina and Trisha, and two grandchildren, Madeline and Dylan. Leo took incredible care of his entire family and was a friend to all. A military service will be held on Friday, June 26th, at Tahoma National Cemetery at 10 a.m. The family will also receive friends at The Highlands on Saturday, June 27th from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., located at 502 43rd Avenue SE, Puyallup WA. 98374 (next to Mel Korum’s YMCA). The family would like to thank all those who visited Leo and offered love, support, and prayers in the days leading up to his passing.
