Dennis Carl Peterson
1942-2022
Dennis Carl Peterson, 79, of Cosmopolis passed away on March 31, 2022, due to complications from congestive heart failure.
He was born on July 29, 1942, to John and Lucy Peterson in Aberdeen, Washington. He attended Cosmopolis Elementary and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1960. He joined the Navy and served four years.
He spent most of his life in Cosmopolis, but spent 20+ years at his home in North River, before retiring back to his childhood home.
Dennis spent his career in the logging industry working for Elmore Boom, Mayr Brothers, Zepp Logging and eventually retiring from Simpson Timber.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors no matter the task. At North River, he spent countless hours taking care of his 10 acres. We could find him clearing brush, building massive burn piles, chopping wood, building a barn and fence so we could have a horse, taking care of chickens, goats, ducks, rabbits and his dogs. He liked tinkering around with his 1931 Model A and finally restored it into a hot rod. When he moved back to Cosmopolis, there was an adjustment to living in the city, but he was able to keep busy with his rentals, yard and clam digging. When he finally slowed down, he enjoyed building kayaks, doing puzzles, playing cards and spending time with his family.
He married Cheryl Ibabao in 1968 and is survived by their three daughters: Mardee (Kirk) Beatty of Olympia, Washington; Marcee Peterson (Choya) of Lacey, Washington and Rency (Stan) Helberg of Aberdeen, Washington; five granddaughters: Alexis, Gabrielle, Lilly, Destinee and Trinitee; and three grandsons: Nicholas, Jakobee and Quincee.
In 1992 he married Brenda Dees who resides in the family home. He is also suvived by his step-children, Shelly MacKinder of Cosmopolis, Washington; Karryle (Lee) Hovde of Kamloops, Canada; Tresa (Jason) Harambasic of Onalaska, Washington and David Dees of Springfield, Oregon; nine other grandchildren: Tristan, Jacob, Adam, Sarah, Kellie, Lacey, RJ, Beth and Michael; and five great-grandchildren. Dennis is also survived by his sister, Delia (Milt) Zeutschel and is preceded in death by both parents and his older sister, Rosemarie Nelson.
A celebration of life for Dennis will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Harbor Calvary Chapel in Aberdeen, Washington.
Service arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
